This piece is a lunker! Rare size of 17.3g in weight.
Thick with a beautiful surface texture. Usually, moldavites from Chlum require a certain thickness to display top grade signature texture patterns. This piece has it! There is a chip on one side which serves as a window to view into the interior of this piece.
Moldavites were formed about 14.7 million years ago during the impact of a giant meteorite in the present-day Nordlinger Ries crater. Splatters of material that was melted by the impact cooled while they were actually airborne and most fell in Bohemia.
Whilst airborne, pieces occasionally take flight oriented forms termed as splash forms.
Shapes include dumbbells, teardrops, spheres, patty and more.
Additionally, depending on soil conditions, the surfaces are etched by acidic/alkali conditions resulting in the beautiful pieces we have today.
