This beautiful original vintage tattoo flash sheet is a beautiful one-of-a-kind example of classic "Cholo" style tattoo art, painted by world-class tattoo artist Greg James.
At the age of fourteen, Greg began drawing flash for his brother, the legendary tattoo artist Tennessee Dave, and eventually apprenticed with him. From single-needle black-and-gray work to classic Americana tattoos and ultimately the large, custom Japanese artwork for which he later became famous, Greg tattooed continuously in Los Angeles on Main Street in downtown L.A. and also the Pike, in Long Beach for many years.
Painted in the 1980s in East Los Angeles -- one of modern tattoo his
tory's most important venues -- this sheet comes from the extensive collection of world famous tattoo artist, Jonathan Shaw.
Signed by James, this sheet
was sold shaw to Shaw in the early 90s by Greg James' brother, the late, great Tennessee Dave, together with a large collection of other classic vintage Southern California tattoo flash sheets from Dave's extensive collection.

This large classic original flash sheet
measures aprox. 12" x 20" and comes with a hand-written letter of authenticity from Shaw.
It is
part of the renowned archives of classic tattoo artwork featured in Shaw's ongoing book series Vintage Tattoo Flash published on Powerhouse Books.
